Lakota Native Americans 1988
Carolyn and I traveled out to the Badlands of South Dakota partially on a mission trip, and to create these images. The living circumstances were not particularly good, and the general landscape is quite harsh with high winds of the plains.
Our Native American subjects were quite amiable and willing to participate in these sittings which were created using a large format 4”x 5” Sinar Bron camera and Broncolor lighting which she and I alone managed to transport all the way from the east coast and set up in this small church building.* (all copyright belongs to barry elz photography and may not be reproduced without written permission).
